As our family spent countless hours alongside Christopher during his journey, both in and out of care facilities, our hearts were moved to consider pressing questions: How can we show appreciation for the nurses and caregivers who work tirelessly, often without recognition? How do we inspire young people to pursue careers in this noble and urgently needed field? How can we empower hospital staff to better support people with disabilities, and what can be done to provide relief for families facing situations like ours?
These questions, and our wish to create a living legacy for Christopher, led us to establish the Christopher Smith Foundation. Today, the demand for compassionate caregiving continues to rise, and families across the country are seeking support. Through our Foundation, immediate action is being taken to honor the extraordinary individuals who dedicate their lives to caring for others. Every donation directly supports our caregiver recognition initiatives, providing meaningful cash gifts and tokens of appreciation to both family and professional caregivers who go above and beyond.
