The Christopher Smith Foundation is pleased to announce our April Caregiver of the Month, Veronica Fiscus.

She was nominated by Peter Wittingham of the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada. Here is what he had to say about her:

Veronica, is the primary caregiver for her brother, Matt (diagnosed with Down syndrome), and also her aging dad, Bill, who is one of the founding members of the the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada (DSOSN).

In addition to her daily support and care-giving responsibilities for her brother and father, Veronica is also the coordinator for the DSOSN’s Cool 21’s Program. This program plans monthly age-appropriate activities for members who are 21 and older. Indeed, Veronica can justly be credited for reviving this popular program, and since her assignment, has coordinated several fun-filled activities, including game nights, karaoke outings, and the Super Bowl party at the DSOSN office building.

Veronica represents the very best of who/what a caregiver should be, and is an example to all parents and volunteers in the DSOSN.
